10 Truths Every Cancer Needs to Hear
3. Your Shell Is a Sanctuary, Not a Prison
When things get overwhelming, you retreat. You go quiet. You withdraw. People might interpret this as coldness or sulking, but for you, it’s survival. Your shell is where you recharge. It’s where you process your emotions. There is nothing wrong with needing solitude. But be careful not to stay in there too long. Isolation can turn into loneliness. Use your shell to rest, not to hide. When you’re ready, come back out. The world misses your warmth.
4. You Are Not Responsible for Everyone’s Happiness
You have a natural instinct to fix, to heal, to soothe. If someone is sad, you want to make it better. If someone is stressed, you want to take the load off their shoulders. But you are not a therapist. You are not a savior. You are a human being with your own limits. Trying to manage everyone else’s emotions is exhausting and ultimately impossible. Let people feel their feelings. Let them handle their own problems. Your job is to support, not to save.
